Kalea wine cellar
One special feature of Restaurant Kalea is our own wine cellar, where we also offer tastings, aperitifs and consultations for up to 15 people. The collection, accumulated over the past 15 years, contains around 5,000 bottles, including Burgundy wines such as Romanee Conti, and sweet wine from Bordeaux such as Chateau d’Yquem 1920. From Italy there are many different vintages of Supertoscana, including Masseto, Sassicaia and Ornellaia. Over 300 bottles of champagne complete the collection.
A modern highlight of the collection: the wines of the young winemaker Fabio Zanini, who cultivates vineyards in Verscio, Cavigliano; in Ronchini in the Maggia valley; and in Brissago. The inhabitants of Brissago call the golden rain from the slopes of the Gridone (2188 metres) “L’Igher” – which is where the area’s most famous wine takes its name. On the Kalea menu, it is available both as a regular white wine and barrique aged. We also offer some of Fabio Zanini’s red wines, such as the Triangolo.
